Project Description
Jamie and Angie Strong’s original home

The Strong home is a Strongbuild ‘Classic Country Style’ Streamlined Building project. The home is situated on a 1100 square metre block in the township of Berry and was originally the home of Strongbuild Business Partner Jamie Strong and his family.

Their Story:

Jamie and Angie moved from Sydney to Berry in 2000 to set up a building business with long term friend Chris Francis. Their dream was to build a home and family lifestyle away from the high cost and pressures of city living.

Initially they moved into an old house in town while they explored the real estate opportunities available in the area. In 2005 they settled on a 1100sqm piece of land in King Street Berry and began planning their dream home. The plan included building a cottage where they would live until the main house was built, a potting shed, a chicken run, vegie patch, fruit trees, herb garden, formal garden, a garden pond, swimming pool, outdoor kitchen including Pizza Oven and the main house. The house would need three bedrooms to accommodate their planned children, a loft as a parent getaway, kitchen, dining area, lounge and an outdoor entertaining deck.

All this seemed like a tall order to fit comfortably on a relatively small town plot of 1100 sqm but Chris and Jamie’s building business (Strongbuild) was well established and one of its divisions had developed a unique streamlined building system based on classic Australian country style architecture that specialised in simplifying the design and building process. The system would provide existing house and cottage plans and provide the flexibility of a 3D modelling system to help organise their requirements.

Jamie and Angie have now moved to a larger block on the outskirts of Berry and are in the process of creating something amazing. Follow Jamie’s blog posts in the Innovation Series section.
